This story flows on from the end of the last book. Will and Cal are looking for Will’s banished father. They land on the miners train and find Chester. The train is bound for the Deeps, a desolate place deep underground were the Styx banish people. The three boys must survive in the Deeps. The only other thing that lives in the Deeps are the Coprolites, the slaves of the Colony.
The Limiters (a type of Styx) are everywhere. The boys suspect that it might be because of them, as they are on the run for aiding the escape of a prisoner and the Styx are looking for them. Will, Cal and Chester find help and friends in people living in the Deeps.
While on the run the boys stumble across a deadly plan to wipe out everyone in London. They have to stop it with help from Elliott and Drake. But will they be able to?
