Daughter of the Deep

By Rick Riordan

Generations of Ana Dakkar’s family have attended the Harding-Pencroft Academy for aspiring underwater explorers.

While attending the school, Ana witnesses a tragedy that will change her life forever.

The legendary Captain Nemo from Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, is real and he lived a long time ago. Ana Dakkar is one of his relatives and the Land Institute, a rival school of Harding-Pencroft, want to kidnap her. The Nautilus, Nemo’s submarine is real as well.

Harding-Pencroft and Land Institute have been fighting a cold war over the ownership of the Nautilus for a hundred and fifty years. It has now reached its peak with Land Institute building a submarine that they say is better than the Nautilus.

Land Institute is after the Nautilus and its technology. Ana must trust no one if she is to succeed in finding and protecting the Nautilus. With a group of future underwater explorers can she protect the wereabouts of the Nautilus?

I love all of Rick Riordan’s books and this one is no exception. If you have read Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne then you will love this book. If you like the ocean and diving you will love this book. If you have never gone to the sea and never read Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea you will still love this book. It has lots of mystery and excitement.
